Konstantinos Economidis ( Greek Κωνσταντίνος Οικονομίδης ; born November 2, 1977 in Thessaloniki ) is a former Greek tennis player .

Career

Economidis was able to score especially on the Future and Challenger Tour . In singles and doubles, he won five titles each on the Challenger Tour. In 2002 he made his Grand Slam debut at Wimbledon . However, he never got past the first round, except at the 2007 French Open when he defeated Chris Guccione in the first round . In the second round Economidis lost to the Spaniard Tommy Robredo . In 2004 he took part in the Olympic Games in Athens . In the individual he was defeated in the first round of Chile's Fernando Gonzalez , who was to win bronze later, with 6: 7 6 , 2: 6th He competed in doubles with his partner Vasilis Mazarakis , but also failed here in the opening round. With 1: 6, 3: 6 they were defeated by the Czechs Cyril Suk and Martin Damm .

Economidis has played for the Greek Davis Cup team since 1996 . In 37 participations, he played 64 games. Both in the singles with 26:10 and in the doubles with 18:10 his balance is positive. This makes him the most successful national player in his country and also a record player.
