Prakash Amritraj (born October 2, 1983 in Los Angeles , United States ) is a former Indian tennis player .
Private
Prakash Amritraj's father Vijay Amritraj and his uncle Anand Amritraj were also active tennis professionals. His cousin Stephen Amritraj , Anand's son, also played on the Challenger Tour . He graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in business administration.
Career
On June 15, 2009, Prakash Amritraj achieved his best position in the world rankings with 154th place. A year earlier he was in the final of the Newport tournament , which he lost to French Fabrice Santoro 3: 6 and 5: 7. In doubles he was also able to reach the final on the World Tour once . In 2006 he and his compatriot Rohan Bopanna reached the final in front of a home crowd in Chennai . However, against Michal Mertiňák and Petr Pála they had to admit defeat 2: 6 and 5: 7. On the Challenger Tour he has won six titles so far with changing partners. At Grand Slam tournaments , he achieved his best result on the side of Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi with the last 16 in Wimbledon . His highest place in the double world rankings was 119th on October 26th, 2009.
From August 2010 to August 2012 Prakash Amritraj took a break from the World Tour and did not complete a single tournament. Amritraj played his last professional match in July 2013 in Atlanta. Since the end of July 2014 he has not been included in the world rankings.
Between 2003 and 2008, Prakash Amritraj played a total of ten matches for the Indian Davis Cup team . He was only used individually, but his balance sheet is negative with seven games won and eleven lost.
