Lloyd George Muirhead Harris (born February 24, 1997 in Cape Town ) is a South African tennis player .

Career

Lloyd Harris plays tournaments on the second class Challenger and the first class ATP tour . So far, he has celebrated 13 single and four double titles on the Future Tour.

He came to Antalya for his premiere on the ATP World Tour in 2017 . After he had already been eliminated in the qualification, he moved into the main field as a lucky loser due to injury-related cancellations . There he lost his opening match against Janko Tipsarević with 5-7, 3-6. In the same year he made the jump into a main field in Shenzhen again, where he met the eventual finalist Oleksandr Dolhopolow , to whom he was defeated in two sets. On October 9th he made it into the top 200 of the world rankings for the first time . In 2018 he won his first challenger title in doubles together with Aljaksandr Bury in Anning . In August he won his first individual title on the Challenger Tour in Lexington .

In 2019 he made it into the top 100 and made his Grand Slam debut in Paris . There he made it into the second round. At the Wimbledon Championships and the US Open , he failed each on his opening opponent.

Harris has played for the South African Davis Cup team since 2016 . So far he has only played there in the individual games and has a record of 11: 4.
