On the Junior Tour, on which Polmans played until mid-2015, he was already successful. He won the Australian Open 2015 in the doubles competition with his partner Jake Delaney . In the junior world rankings , 28th place at the beginning of 2015 was also his highest position.
Since 2012 the Australian has also played tournaments with the professionals. However, it wasn't until 2015 before he won more than two games in a row. In 2016, he finally won four futures tournaments in a short time, so that he was able to participate in Challenger tournaments for the first time at the end of the year . Here he also reached a final in Canberra , which he lost to James Duckworth . In total, he has won 6 futures in singles and 12 in doubles so far. In 2016 he also made his first appearance on the ATP level in Melbourne at the Australian Open in mixed competition alongside Jessica Moore through a wildcard . They lost the opening game against the two seeded Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Bob Bryan with 2: 6, 1: 6. With another wildcard he was able to advance to the semifinals at the following Australian Open together with Andrew Whittington . He also played in the qualification of all Grand Slam tournaments in 2017 , but was never able to qualify. He was twice in an ATP main field and once he reached a Challenger semifinals, so that in June he reached his previous best place with rank 175, but could not hold it until the end of the year. It slipped to 318th place. In doubles he was 68th in the top 100 through the semi-finals in Melbourne and ended the year in 70th place.
In February 2018, Polmans achieved his first tournament victory in a Challenger. In Launceston he defeated his compatriot Bradley Mousley .
