Alex Bolt (born January 5, 1993 in Murray Bridge ) is an Australian tennis player .

Career

Bolt made his debut on the ATP World Tour thanks to a wildcard in the men's doubles at the 2013 Australian Open alongside Greg Jones . They reached the second round, in which they defeated Daniele Bracciali and Lukáš Dlouhý in two sets. In 2014 he received another wildcard for the doubles competition, which this time he played with Andrew Whittington . Together they reached the quarter-finals, after beating the reigning world champions, the third-placed Spanish doubles David Marrero and Fernando Verdasco , in three sets in the second round . In the quarterfinals they were defeated in two sets to Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjić . In the world rankings, Alex Bolt moved up to 100th place after this success.

With Whittington, mostly his doubles partner, he also won the Challenger tournaments in Anning 2014 and Canberra 2015. In Anning in 2014, in addition to the doubles, he also won the individual . In the final he defeated Nikola Mektić in straight sets. In 2015 he also had his first individual match on the world tour at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells . After qualifying, he lost in round one against Robin Haase in straight sets.
