Evan King (born March 25, 1992 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American tennis player .

Career

College tennis

Evan King played tennis for the University of Michigan College , becoming the most successful tennis player in university history at the time. He was named Big Ten Athlete of the Year in 2012 and 2013 .

Professional tour

Evan King already completed his first match on the second-rate ATP Challenger Tour as a 16-year-old when he received a wildcard for the single and double field in Winnetka . Since then he has mainly been on the ITF Future Tour and Challenger Tour. So far, he has celebrated 6 single and 21 double titles on the Future Tour. He won his first Challenger title in 2016 in Monterrey in doubles alongside Denis Kudla . In 2017 he was able to defend this with Christopher Eubanks . King made his debut on the ATP World Tour in 2009 thanks to a wildcard in Delray Beach . There he lost in the first round in two sets against Andrei Golubew . In 2016 he received a wildcard for the mixed competition at the US Open . With his partner Emina Bektas he lost in the first round in two sets. His first win on the ATP World Tour came in Los Cabos when he beat Manuel Sánchez in the first round . In 2017, by successfully qualifying for the US Open, he made his debut in a Grand Slam tournament in singles. There he was defeated in the first round to the later semi-finalist Pablo Carreño Busta in three sets. In April he achieved his best ranking to date with rank 185.
