Ben McLachlan (born May 10, 1992 in Queenstown ) is a Japanese - New Zealand tennis player .
Career
Ben McLachlan played under the New Zealand flag until 2017 and then competed under the Japanese flag during the 2017 season . His mother Yuriko was born in Japan. That same season he achieved his first tournament success on the Challenger Tour in June when he won the doubles competition in Todi with Steven De Waard . In September, the second title win followed in Gwangju on the side of Chen Ti . At the end of September he started doubles thanks to a wildcard at the World Tour tournament in Tokyo . Together with Yasutaka Uchiyama , he played his way to the finals, where they defeated Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares in straight sets.
After changing nations, McLachlan made his debut for the Japanese Davis Cup team in September 2017 .
