Andreas Welzenbach has gone his own way in his artistic development. He concentrates on the material wood, his sculptures are each carved from only one solid block and even the moving elements are worked free from the same piece. His themes are mostly laid out in work groups. The early series were called "Little Disasters" and "Last Look". The two big series "Execute" and "Night Watchman" followed later, along with many others.

In his works he always plays with the established ideas of art and the conventions of a petty-bourgeois aesthetic. The works address existential questions and throw the viewer back on his human condition. His fine irony and black humor always help to endure the absurdity of human activity.
