Benjamin Nicholas Monroe (born April 12, 1982 in Oklahoma City ) is an American tennis player .

Career

Nicholas Monroe mainly plays in doubles on the ATP Challenger Tour . So far he has won seven titles there with different partners. In the individual, he has not yet managed to win in this category, but he has already won eleven times in tournaments of the ITF Future Tour , a lower endowed category than the ATP Challenger Tour. In recent years he has been able to continuously improve his ranking position in doubles and made it into the top 100 in 2012, which also enabled him to participate in tournaments on the ATP World Tour . He reached the second round at the US Open 2012 with his partner Donald Young after the duo received a wildcard .

Nicholas Monroe celebrated his greatest career success in Båstad in July 2013 when he and Simon Stadler won the doubles competition of the World Tour tournament against Carlos Berlocq and Albert Ramos . At the side of Stadler, with whom he had won four Challenger tournaments by then, he failed in the final in Buenos Aires in February of the same year against the Italians Fabio Fognini and Simone Bolelli . In the double world rankings he was listed on rank 60 after winning the tournament, in August he rose to rank 51, his highest ranking to date. In 2014 he repeated his success in Båstad and won the tournament a second time with Johan Brunström . In October 2017, he improved his top ranking to 30th place.
