Simon Stadler (born July 20, 1983 in Heidelberg ) is a former German tennis player .

Career

Stadler has been playing tennis since 1990. In 2006 he reached the main draw of the Wimbledon tournament , where he was defeated by David Ferrer . In 2007 Stadler beat his compatriot Mischa Zverev 6: 4 and 7: 6 in the first round of the Gerry Weber Open in Halle and reached the second round. There he was defeated by the Russian Michail Juschny with 4: 6, 6: 1 and 3: 6. In the same year Stadler also reached the semi-finals of the Challenger tournament in Lanzarote and the quarter-finals at the Challenger tournaments in Kyoto and Cardiff . In 2008 Stadler qualified as a qualifier again for the main draw at Wimbledon and surprisingly eliminated the number 18 seed from Croatian Ivo Karlović in the first round with 4: 6, 7: 6 (7: 4), 6: 3, 7: 5 . At the beginning of 2011, Simon Stadler was able to qualify for the Australian Open for the first time . Stadler achieved his highest position in the world rankings on February 23, 2009 with rank 140. Stadler plays for TK Grün-Weiss Mannheim in the Bundesliga .

Simon Stadler celebrated his greatest career success in Båstad in July 2013 when he and Nicholas Monroe won the doubles competition of the World Tour tournament against Carlos Berlocq and Albert Ramos . With Monroe, with whom he had won four Challenger tournaments by then, he failed in the final in Buenos Aires in February of the same year against the Italians Fabio Fognini and Simone Bolelli . In the double world rankings he was listed on rank 62 after winning the tournament, his highest ranking up to then. With Monroe he also reached the World Tour final in Umag two weeks later , in which the two Martin Kližan and David Marrero lost 7:10 in the match tie-break. In August they secured the title at the Challenger tournament in San Marino . Stadler reached the second round at both the Australian Open and the French Open in 2014 and in the meantime improved his career record in the double world rankings to 52nd place in February. He did not make it to the finals either, as he did in the following season. It wasn't until 2016 that he was in a final again: with Alexander Satschko he won the Challenger tournament in Blois in June . Two months later he played his last professional tournament.
