Career
David Marrero achieved his first Future Tournament victory in April 2003 in Chile. On the way to victory he was able to defeat the later top 100 players Diego Junqueira and Paul Capdeville, among others . In 2008 he succeeded for the first time in a challenger tournament to reach the final. Again in Chile ( La Serena ) he qualified and only had to admit defeat to Rubén Ramírez Hidalgo in the final . At the French Open 2008 he reached the second round four months later after qualifying.
In 2009 he achieved the first and so far only victory at this tournament level in individual at the challenger tournament in Monza . His career was more successful in doubles. He was able to win 13 challenger tournaments with 11 different double partners between 2005 and 2010 (including Albert Portas and Pablo Cuevas ). In 2010 he made it into the top 100 with a win in doubles at the Challenger tournament in Saint-Brieuc .
With double partner Marc López Marrero won his first two ATP tournaments in Estoril and Hamburg in the 2010 season. In 2011 he was denied a tournament victory, although he was in a total of four finals. In the 2012 season he won four titles with his compatriot Fernando Verdasco in Buenos Aires , Acapulco , Umag and Hamburg . In addition, he was still in the finals of Estoril and Valencia . In the 2013 season he defended the titles of Acapulco and Umag , this time alongside Łukasz Kubot and Martin Kližan respectively . With Fernando Verdasco he also won in St. Petersburg .
In 2014 David Marrero was nominated for the first time for the Spanish Davis Cup team . He made his debut in the first round against Germany .
