Flávio Saretta Filho (born June 28, 1980 in Americana ) is a former Brazilian tennis player .
life and career
Saretta, who began a professional career in 1998, was initially successful on the ATP Challenger Tour . He won seven singles titles and four more doubles. He celebrated his greatest success on the World Tour in 2004 in Umag when he won the doubles competition with José Acasuso . A similar success was denied him in the individual.
In Grand Slam tournaments , the best results were a round of 16 singles in 2003 at the French Open and the quarter-finals of the doubles competition in 2004 at the Australian Open . In the world rankings, his best positions were 44th in singles on September 15, 2003 and 78th in doubles on July 26, 2004.
Saretta took part in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens . In the individual he was defeated in the opening round to the second seeded American Andy Roddick . He competed in doubles with André Sá . They defeated the Spaniards Carlos Moyá and Rafael Nadal in the first round, but then failed against Wayne Black and Kevin Ullyett from Zimbabwe.
Between 2002 and 2007, Saretta was nominated for a total of ten matches for the Brazilian Davis Cup team . One won nine out of 14 singles games, and he was victorious in his only doubles game with André Sá.
In 2009, Saretta announced his retirement from professional tennis. The reason he gave was that he was tired of fighting the persistent pain in his body.
