At the age of nine, Capdeville began playing tennis in the oldest and most famous club in his native Santiago de Chile, in which his father Guillermo was also a member. His older brother William, who trained with him early on, is now his manager.
In 2003 he made it into the finals of a future tournament for the first time after qualifying for these events three times in 2002.
The premiere on the ATP tour in Viña del Mar followed a year later . However, the tournament was over for him after the first round against his compatriot Adrián García . In 2004 he also made his debut for Chile in the Davis Cup against Ecuador .
In 2007 he made it into the top 100 of the world rankings for the first time with an ATP balance of 13:12. In addition to his challenger title in Florianópolis , he qualified for the ATP tournament in Washington , where he was eliminated in the tie-break of the third set against Ivo Karlović . He started as a qualifier at the US Open in August and defeated Rainer Schüttler in five sets in the first round . However, this was followed by the end against the first seeded Roger Federer .
In April 2014 Capdeville ended his professional career.
