Jorge Aguilar (born January 8, 1985 in Santiago de Chile ) is a Chilean tennis player .
Career
Aguilar tried his hand at smaller tournaments on the ITF Future Tour on the American continent. In January 2003 he made the jump to the final in El Salvador , where he was defeated by Alejandro Falla . Another final followed in June 2004 in the United States , where Michael Russell lost 3: 6, 0: 6. In January 2005 he made his debut on the ATP Challenger Tour in his hometown and made it to the semi-finals there straight away. In April he had to admit defeat again in a final Juan Martín del Potro at a future tournament . Aguilar reached his first final outside of America in June 2005 in Arad , where he lost to local hero Victor Crivoi 1: 6, 2: 6.
In January 2006 the Chilean made his debut on the ATP Tour at his home tournament in Vina del Mar and defeated his compatriot Guillermo Hormazábal in round one . In round two he had to admit defeat to Leoš Friedl . After two more finals, the first title finally succeeded in August 2006 on the Future Tour in Mexico , where Aguilar got through the competition without losing a set. Another title followed in Chile in November. Now appearances on the Challenger Tour became more frequent, but only rarely did Aguilar get past the first round.
In October 2007 he won another future in Chile, and two months later he repeated this triumph. In October 2008, Aguilar was also able to win two tournaments in his home country, another title followed in November in Peru . In May 2005 he won another tournament in Argentina , and in the course of the year Aguilar added five more Future trophies to his collection of titles. At the French Open 2010 he fought his way through the qualification, but then lost in round one against Tomáš Berdych in three sets. On July 9, Aguilar made his debut in the Davis Cup in the quarterfinals of the world group, where he beat Lukáš Dlouhý 6-1, 7-6 . Overall he has a score of 8: 7 there. In his career he won a total of 56 future tournaments, 22 in singles and 34 in doubles, as well as two challenger tournaments.
In 2015, Aguilar announced his retirement from professional sport.
