Sassuolo is an Italian industrial city with 10,834 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) south of Modena and northwest of Bologna in the Emilia-Romagna region .

Sassuolo has long been the center of the Italian tile industry . As a result of the relocation of production to Spain and China, the importance of this branch of industry fell sharply and led to an increase in unemployment.

One of the most important sights in the city is the Palazzo Ducale Sassuolo of the Dukes of Este from the 17th century. The architect was Bartolomeo Avanzini . The interior was decorated with frescoes by the French baroque painter Jean Boulanger , Angelo M. Colonna and Agostino Mitelli .

The US Sassuolo Calcio has been in the Serie A football team since the beginning of the 2013/2014 season .
