Campogalliano is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 8724 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Modena in Emilia-Romagna . The municipality is located about nine kilometers northwest of Modena and about 16 kilometers east of Reggio nell'Emilia . The municipality belonged to the Uninone della Terre d'Argine and borders directly on the province of Reggio Emilia .

history

The early settlement by Celts and Gauls (Latin for the region north of the Rubicon: Gallia cisalpina ) gave the current place and the community their name as a field of the Gauls .

The place first gained importance in the 16th century when the castle was built.

Campogalliano is located in the triangle between the A1 autostrada ( Milan - Bologna - Rome - Naples ) and the A22 autostrada (Modena - Verona - Bolzano; Brenner motorway ).

The company Bugatti Automobili established a production site here.
