The Province of Reggio Emilia ( Italian Provincia di Reggio Emilia ) is an Italian province of the Emilia-Romagna region . The capital is Reggio nell'Emilia . It has 531,751 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in 42 municipalities on an area of 2,293 km².
The province is enclosed between the Po in the north and the ridge of the Apennines in the south. In the west it borders on the province of Parma , in the east on the province of Modena , in the north on Lombardy and in the south on Tuscany .
