Cavriago is an Italian commune ( comune ) with 9848 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Reggio Emilia in Emilia-Romagna . The municipality is located about 8.5 kilometers west of Reggio nell'Emilia . The Enza flows 6.5 kilometers west of Cavriago.

history

The village was first mentioned in a document in 996. The document from the archives of the Capitular Parma is still preserved today and records the donation of a fortification called Corviaco by the Countess Rolenda, an (illegitimate) daughter of Hugo I , to Paulone Bovini (or Paulone Bruini) on December 1, 996.
