Orietta Berti
Orietta Berti (born June 1, 1943 in Cavriago , Reggio Emilia province , as Orietta Galimberti ) is an Italian singer and television personality. After her breakthrough in 1965 with the song Tu sei quello , she took part in countless musical events over the course of her career, including eleven times at the Sanremo Festival , and appeared frequently on television.
Career
The singer began her career with participation in the singing competition Il disco d'oro , where she shared first place with the debut Iva Zanicchi . The songwriter Giorgio Calabrese then helped Berti to get his first record deal with the Karim label and - after an unsuccessful debut - with the larger Phonogram / Polydor label . In 1963 the singer released her first single Serenata suburbana with Polydor . The following year she was able to attract attention for the first time with an Italian version of the song Dominique ( Sœur Sourire ) and on this wave she took part in the 1964 competition Un disco per l'estate , which she won with the song Tu sei quello . The winning song then rose to the top of the single charts.
After another victory at the Festival delle Rose with Voglio dirti grazie , Berti released her first album with songs by Sœur Sourire and presented the song Io ti darò di più at the Sanremo Festival in 1966 with Ornella Vanoni . Numerous other participations in music competitions and television programs followed (including the Festival di Lugano , Canzonissima , Festivalbar or the Mostra internazionale di musica leggera di Venezia ); until 1970 she competed five times in a row in Sanremo, until 1973 nine times with Un disco per l'estate . Successful titles from this period were Io, tu e le rose ( Sanremo 1967 ), Non illuderti mai (Un disco per l'estate 1968), L'altalena (Un disco per l'estate 1969), Una bambola blu (Canzonissima 1969), Tipitipitì ( Sanremo 1970 ), Fin che la barca va (Un disco per l'estate 1970) or Ah, l'amore che cos'è (Canzonissima 1970).
1972 appeared with Più italiane di me Berti's most successful album, a collection of Italian folk songs from the 18th century . This was followed by two more folk albums, Cantatele con me (1973) and Così come le canto (1974). With Occhi rossi (tramonto d'amore) , the singer was able to achieve third place at the Sanremo Festival in 1974 . After the birth of their first son in 1975, Berti released other albums, including 1976 with Zingari ... a collection of gypsy music . She also worked occasionally as an actress (after appearances in two music films by Bruno Corbucci in 1968 and 1969): In the episode film Viva Italia! she played in 1977, directed by Ettore Scola in the episode L'uccellino della Val Padana alongside Ugo Tognazzi ; She took on another role in 1978 in Giancarlo Santi's fascism parody Quando c'era lui… caro lei! as Rachele Mussolini .
Without much success Berti went into the race again in Sanremo in 1981 and 1982 with La barca non va più (like La balena 1980 a children's song ) and America in . After the birth of her second son, the singer returned to television on Canale 5 in 1984 and then released the three albums Le mie nuove canzoni , Futuro (1986) and Io come donna (1989) in collaboration with Umberto Balsamo . In 1986 she took part in the Sanremo Festival for the tenth time with the song Futuro written by Balsamo . Together with Giorgio Faletti , she returned to the festival in 1992 and then began active work in various television programs, for example as the presenter of Sanremo Giovani in 1996 or as a permanent studio guest of Fabio Fazio in Quelli che il calcio (1997-2000). In 2001 she moved from Rai to Mediaset and became an integral part of the Buona domenica program .
Berti continued to occasionally release new albums in the 2000s, such as 2003 Emozione d'autore (with reinterpretations of songs by the Cantautori Sergio Endrigo , Umberto Bindi , Riccardo Cocciante , Franco Califano and Lucio Battisti ), 2006 Exitos latinos (recordings of Latin American hits) or 2008 Swing - Un omaggio alla mia maniera ( Swing songs). In addition, numerous compilations with her old songs appeared.
