Giorgio Faletti (born November 25, 1950 in Asti , † July 4, 2014 in Turin ) was an Italian author , presenter , composer and actor .

Career

The lawyer initially worked as a presenter and comedian in Italian television shows . He later devoted himself to composing music titles, partly for other artists such as Mina , Milva , Gigliola Cinquetti and Angelo Branduardi , partly for himself.

At the Sanremo Festival in 1994 he took second place with the song Signor Tenente he composed himself .

In 2002 he published his first novel. The thriller "Io uccido" (title of the German translation: "I kill") was an international success and was on the Italian bestseller lists for months. Two years later, his second book "Niente di vero tranne gli occhi" (title of the German translation: "At the moment of death") followed, which was similarly successful. Both books sold around 2.3 million times in Italy. In 2006 “Fuori da un evidente destino” was published. His books have been translated into 25 languages.

As an actor he was nominated for his role in the film "Notte prima degli esami" (2006) by the critics for Davide di Donatello as best supporting actor.

In November 2005 he received the De Sica Literature Prize from the President of the Republic of Italy .

Giorgio Faletti and his wife lived in seclusion on the island of Elba . He died after a long illness on July 4, 2014 at the age of 63 in Turin.
