Ornella Vanoni (2007)

Ornella Vanoni (born September 22, 1934 in Milan ) is an Italian singer and actress .

Life

The daughter of a pharmaceutical company studied in Switzerland and was enthusiastic about both music and theater. 1953 she joined the Theater Academy of the Piccolo Teatro of Giorgio Strehler at. She made her debut as a singer in 1957 in the piece I Giacobini , in which she sang three songs. Later, she went through interpretation of Brecht - songs and the canzoni della mala ( "Songs of the Underworld") attention and became acquainted with the censorship . In 1958 Vanoni released her first single on the newly founded label Dischi Ricordi .

In the 1960s she found her musical direction, which she managed with the help of Gino Paoli . He wrote u. a. Senza fine , which would later become one of her most successful songs. She also sang songs by Domenico Modugno , Burt Bacharach , Charles Aznavour and Gilbert Bécaud . In 1960 she married Lucio Ardenzi , with whom she had a son; but the marriage lasted only a few years. In 1961 she took part in the television show Canzonissima , in 1964 in the Festival di Napoli , where she took first place together with Modugno and the song Tu sì 'na cosa grande . A year later she was able to reach the finals at the Sanremo Festival in 1965 with Abbracciami forte ; In 1968 she took second place with Casa Bianca . She also appeared in the 1963 musical comedy Rugantino by Garinei and Giovannini .

From now on Vanoni landed regularly bigger hits in the Italian charts. In 1968 and 1969 she released the two-part album Ai miei amici cantautori , in which she interpreted songs by Italian and French cantautori and chansonniers , including Gino Paoli and Luigi Tenco . In the 1970s, the songs L'appuntamento and Domani è un altro giorno achieved great successes, which made the singer known abroad (the first was reused as the theme music in 2004 in the film Ocean's 12 , and in 2014 in the episode Der Mensch im Animal from the Austrian TV miniseries Altes Geld ). In 1976 she worked on the album La voglia, la pazzia, l'incoscienza, l'allegria with Toquinho and Vinícius de Moraes .

In 1985 she resumed working with Paoli and designed a tour and a new album with him. With O , Vanoni released a jazz album in 1986 . In the 1990s she began working with producer Mario Lavezzi , which resulted in albums such as Stella nascente (1992) and Sheherazade (1995). She was also honored with the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic (Grand Officer) in 1993. With the new millennium she moved to Sony and in 2001 released the album E poi… la tua bocca da baciare . Again with Gino Paoli, she recorded the successful album Ti ricordi? No, non mi ricordo , which was followed by another joint tour. After the album Una bellissima ragazza (2007), the duet album Più di me was released in 2008 .

At the Sanremo Festival 2009 Vanoni appeared as the “godmother” of the newcomer Simona Molinari , but in 2011 she was among the jurors of the short-lived casting show Star Academy . After the album Meticci (io mi fermo qui) , the singer announced her withdrawal from the public in 2013, but continued to tour. At the Sanremo Festival 2018 she finally entered the race together with Bungaro and Pacifico and took fifth place with Imparare ad amarsi . She was also given the special prize for the best interpretation. She then released the album Un pugno di stelle .
