Long Beach Convention Center
The Long Beach Convention Center is a convention center in Long Beach , California . It opened in 1962. The building complex includes the Long Beach Arena, which was a venue for the 1984 Summer Olympics . The outer wall of the center carries a mural by Robert Wyland of marine animals such as gray whales , which according to the Guinness Book of Records is the largest mural in the world. The Long Beach Convention Center comprises the 8500 square meter Hall A, the 5300 square meter Hall B and the 7100 square meter Hall C. The fencing competitions of the 1984 Summer Olympics were held in one of the halls .
Long Beach Arena
The Long Beach Arena covers an area of 7,000 square meters. The number of seats is 13,609 for basketball games , 11,200 for ice hockey games and 4,550, 9200 and 13,500 for concerts. The arena was and is the home of some college teams, including the Los Angeles Kings , who are represented in the National Hockey League , in it. The volleyball tournaments of the 1984 Summer Olympics were held in the Long Beach Arena. Musicians and bands that performed in the arena included AC / DC , Avenged Sevenfold , Deep Purple , Frank Sinatra , Grateful Dead , Iron Maiden , Judas Priest , KISS , Led Zeppelin , Metallica , Ozzy Osbourne , Prince , Slayer and WASP as well as numerous hip-hop artists.
