The Weingart Stadium (formerly ELAC Stadium ) is a stadium on the grounds of East Los Angeles College in Monterey Park . It was opened in 1951 and was a sports venue for the 1984 Summer Olympics .

history

The ELAC Stadium, which opened in 1951, cost $ 3.1 million to build. It offers 20,365 seats, in addition to which there is also some standing room. Games in soccer , hockey and American football were played in the stadium. The stadium was renovated for the 1984 Summer Olympics . Following the work, the ELAC Stadium was renamed Weingart Stadium. In the early 1990s, the Los Angeles Salsa soccer team played their home games at Weingart Stadium. For the 1994 film Forrest Gump , the scenes that show a football game at the University of Alabama stadium were filmed in this stadium . The university team's football games are currently taking place at Weingart Stadium. The Alhambra High School also holds its graduation ceremony there.
