Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool
The Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool is an outdoor swimming pool in Malibu that is located on the grounds of Pepperdine University . The bathroom was designed and built by Nader Construction at a cost of $ 450,000. The funders for the construction project were Mrs. Frank Rogers Seaver and Morris B. Pendleton. In 1975 the Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool opened. It was named on April 18, 1976 after the son of the Pepperdine Chancellor Charles Runnels , Raleigh Neal Runnels, who died of cancer at the age of 17. The pool has a one-meter and a three-meter springboard and is used by the university's water polo team and the women's swimming team. During the 1984 Summer Olympics , the Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool hosted the water polo tournament .
