Toquinho, born as Antônio Pecci Filho (born July 6, 1946 in São Paulo ), is a Brazilian singer and guitarist. He was best known for his collaboration with Vinícius de Moraes .

Life

At the age of 14 Toquinho began to learn guitar with Paulinho Nogueira and supplemented this with a harmony lesson with Edgar Janulo . He also studied classical guitar with Isaias Sávio , orchestration with Léo Peracchi and was tutored by Oscar Castro-Neves , with whom he was friends.

Toquinho's professional career began in the 1960s when he composed his own songs and appeared on radio entertainment programs. The first recorded song was Lua Cheia, which he wrote with Chico Buarque , his first big hit Que Maravilha in 1970. During this time he worked with Vinícius de Moraes, which lasted until his death in 1980. Since then Toquinho has been working increasingly as a soloist and with various musicians such as Paulinho da Viola , Danilo Caymmi , Paulinho Nogueira and Chico Buarque.
