Castelnovo di Sotto is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 8516 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Reggio Emilia in Emilia-Romagna . The municipality is located about 13 kilometers northwest of Reggio nell'Emilia about 10 kilometers south of the Po . Since 2001 the municipality has had the title città , city.

The Parco Rocca GB Guatteri is worth seeing . Castelnovo di Sotto is a few kilometers north of the A1 autostrada from Milan via Bologna to Rome and Naples . The former Strada Statale 358 di Castelnovo from Cadelbosco di Sopra to Casalmaggiore has now been downgraded to a provincial road. The former station on the Reggio nell'Emilia- Boretto railway line was also closed when the line was closed in 1955. The station can be seen in the film Reverend Don Camillo .
