Carpineti is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 3956 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Reggio Emilia in Emilia-Romagna . The municipality is located about 28.5 kilometers south-southwest of Reggio nell'Emilia . The southern border of the municipality forms the Secchia .

history

The place is first mentioned in the 11th century. Carpineti Castle was built from 1077. Marola Abbey was built in the time of Mathilde of Tuscia .
