Castellarano is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 15,421 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Reggio Emilia in Emilia-Romagna . The municipality on the Secchia river borders the province of Modena . Castellarano is about 20 kilometers southwest of Modena and about 25 kilometers southeast of Reggio nell'Emilia .
