Poviglio is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 7283 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Reggio Emilia in Emilia-Romagna . The municipality is located about 17.5 kilometers north-northwest of Reggio nell'Emilia and about 16 kilometers east-northeast of Parma . The Po flows about 7 kilometers north of Poviglio .

history

The name of the place Povigliop has been documented since 1022. It should go back to a name.

traffic

On the former railway line from Reggio nell'Emilia to Boretto there was a train station in Poviglio. When the line was closed in 1955, the station was also closed. At Poviglio there are two small airfields ( Aviosuperficie / Campo di Volo ) for general aviation .
