Lenin monuments have been erected in numerous cities of the Soviet Union and other socialist countries since the death of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin . They emerged in the course of a personality cult developed around him and were intended to honor Lenin as a communist pioneer and founder of the Soviet Union.
