Castelnuovo Rangone is a northern Italian municipality (comune) with 15,097 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Modena in Emilia-Romagna . The municipality is located about 13 kilometers south-southeast of Modena and about 32 kilometers west-northwest of Bologna . Together with the municipalities of Castelvetro di Modena , Savignano sul Panaro , Spilamberto and Vignola , it forms the Unione Terre di Castelli .
history
Castelnuovo Rangone was first mentioned in 1025 in a deed of donation from Ingone, Bishop of Asti . At the end of the 14th century, the Margrave of Ferrara enfeoffed the Rangoni family with the lands.
