Luciano Monari (born March 28, 1942 in Sassuolo , Modena province , Italy ) is an Italian clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic bishop of Brescia .

Life

Monari studied from 1961 to 1965 at the Pontifical Gregorian University . On June 20, 1965, he received the sacrament of ordination . From 1965 to 1968 Luciano Monari went to Rome again for further studies . He holds a degree in Catholic theology and biblical studies from the Pontifical Biblical Institute . Afterwards Luciano Monari was active in pastoral care and was involved in Catholic Action .

On June 23, 1995, Pope John Paul II appointed Monari Bishop of Piacenza-Bobbio . He was ordained bishop by Camillo Cardinal Ruini on September 2nd of the same year. Luciano Monari took office a day later.

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him Bishop of Brescia on July 19, 2007.

Luciano Monari was temporarily vice-president of the Italian Bishops' Conference .

On July 12, 2017, Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation.
