Diego Junqueira (born December 28, 1980 in Tandil ) is a retired Argentinian tennis player .

life and career

Diego Junqueira attended the tennis school of Guillermo Pérez Roldán's father Raul in Tandil at an early age , which also enjoys a very good international reputation. With Juan Mónaco , Máximo González , Mariano Zabaleta and Juan Martín del Potro , four Argentine top players come from this medium-sized town.

2001 started his professional career with some future tournaments in South America. His first tournament win was in Uruguay in November 2004. He won his first Challenger in January 2006 in Florianópolis , Brazil.

The first major success came at the Stuttgart Open when he was only defeated in the round of 16 by Tomáš Berdych and previously threw the top 100 players Christophe Rochus and Filippo Volandri out of the tournament. In 2008 he qualified for the French Open for the first time and survived the first round. In 2009 he also managed to reach the second round of the French Open.
