The SkiStar Swedish Open 2016 was a tennis tournament that took place from July 11th to 17th, 2016 in Båstad . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2016 and was played outdoors on sand. In the same week the German Tennis Championships were played in Hamburg and the Hall of Fame Tennis Championships in Newport . The former belonged to the ATP World Tour 500 category , while the tournaments in Newport and Båstad belonged to the ATP World Tour 250 category . The men's tournament was followed by the women's tournament in Båstad from July 18th to 24th.

The defending champions were Benoît Paire in singles and Jérémy Chardy and Łukasz Kubot in doubles.

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 28 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The four top seeded players in the singles each got a bye into the second round. The total prize money was 463,520 euros; the financial obligations amounted to 520,070 euros.

The qualification took place from July 9th to 10th, 2016. Four qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament.
