The ASB Classic 2016 was a tennis tournament that took place in Auckland from January 11th to 17th, 2016 . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2016 and was played outdoors on hard courts. In the same week, the Apia International Sydney was played in Sydney , which, like the ASB Classic, was part of the ATP World Tour 250 category .

Last year's individual winner was Jiří Veselý . In doubles, the duo Raven Klaasen and Leander Paes won the tournament last year.

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 28 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The four top seeded players each received a bye into the second round.

qualification

The qualification took place on January 9th and 10th, 2016. Four qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament.
