The Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2016 was a tennis tournament that took place in Doha from January 4th to 9th, 2016 . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2016 and was played outdoors on hard courts. In the same week the Brisbane International was played in Brisbane and the Aircel Chennai Open in Chennai , which, like the Qatar ExxonMobil Open, belonged to the ATP World Tour 250 category .

Last year's individual winner was David Ferrer . Juan Mónaco and Rafael Nadal won the last edition in doubles .

In doubles Feliciano López and Marc López from Spain prevailed , in singles Novak Đoković from Serbia.

The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 32 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs.

The qualification took place on January 2nd and 3rd, 2016. Four qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament.
