The Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2009 was a tennis tournament that took place from January 5th to 11th, 2009 in Doha . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2009 and was played outdoors on hard courts. In the same week the Brisbane International was played in Brisbane and the Aircel Chennai Open in Chennai , which, like the Qatar ExxonMobil Open, belonged to the ATP World Tour 250 category .

Last year's winner Andy Murray , seeded three, was able to defend his title by defeating fourth-placed Andy Roddick in two sets with 6: 4, 6: 2 in the final . Murray won his ninth individual title. In doubles, Philipp Kohlschreiber and David Škoch no longer competed together to defend their title. While Philipp Kohlschreiber was eliminated together with Christopher Kas in the quarter-finals, Škoch did not take part in the tournament. In the final, the Spanish duo Rafael Nadal and Marc López defeated the duo Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjić 4: 6, 6: 4 and [10: 8].

The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 32 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The total prize pool was $ 1,024,000 and total financial liabilities were $ 1,110,250.

The qualification took place from January 3rd to 5th, 2009. Four qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament.
