Wesley Arthur Moodie (born February 14, 1979 in Durban ) is a retired South African tennis player . He was a professional on the ATP tour between 2000 and 2011.
Career
In 2005 he and his partner Stephen Huss won the Wimbledon doubles tournament as unsettled, which no doubles team had ever achieved before.
Moodie has also been successful in singles. In 2005 he won the Tokyo tournament in the final against the number 5 seeded Croatian Mario Ančić 1: 6, 7: 6, 6: 4.
Moodie also plays regularly in the Davis Cup for his country. His victory in the singles against the clearly favored German Tommy Haas caused a stir with 10: 8 in the fifth set at the Euro / Africa zone match at the Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg . In the end, South Africa lost 3-2. In 2007, after a long dry spell, he won another tournament, namely that of Adelaide in doubles and a few weeks later also the tournament of Valencia alongside his doubles partner Todd Perry . He was also able to show a success in the singles with the Newport semifinals .
On July 29, 2011, Moodie announced his retirement.
