The Interwetten Austrian Open Kitzbühel 2009 was a tennis tournament that took place from May 16 to 23, 2009 in Kitzbühel . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2009 and was played outdoors on sand. The same week the World Team Cup took place in Düsseldorf , which, like the Interwetten Austrian Open Kitzbühel, was part of the ATP World Tour 250 category .

Defending champion in the singles was Juan Martín del Potro , who no longer took part in the tournament this year. In the final, the Spaniard Guillermo García-López won against the French Julien Benneteau in three sets with 3: 6, 7: 6 1 , 6: 3. For García-López this was the first success on the ATP World Tour . In doubles, James Cerretani and Victor Hănescu were the defending champions, but this year they were eliminated with other partners in the first round. In the final, the Brazilian duo André Sá and Marcelo Melo won against the Romanian duo Andrei Pavel and Horia Tecău 6: 7, 9 , 6: 2, [10: 7].

The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 32 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The total prize money was 398,250 euros; the total financial liabilities were 450,000 euros.

The qualification took place from May 15th to 17th, 2009. Four qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament. There were also three lucky losers.
