Andrei Pavel (born January 27, 1974 in Constanța , Constanța County ) is a former Romanian tennis player .
Career
Pavel moved to Germany in 1990 and joined professional tennis in the same year. He celebrated his first major successes in 1992 when he won the French Open junior tournament and reached the semi-finals at the Wimbledon junior tournament .
In his career Pavel won three individual titles, 1998 in Tokyo , 2000 in St. Pölten and 2001 the Canada Masters in Montreal. He achieved his best placement in the world rankings in October 2004 when he was 13th.
After a long break from injury, he managed to return to the ATP Tour . He entered the Australian Open in 2009 , but had to give up in the first round against Andy Murray due to an injury. He then declared his career over.
Pavel has been married since August 19, 1994, he lived with his wife Simone and their two children in Borgholzhausen .
Andrei Pavel has been part of Simona Halep's coaching staff since 2017 .
