The China Open 2009 was a tennis tournament that took place from October 3rd to 11th, 2009 in Beijing . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2009 and was played outdoors on hard courts. The same week the Rakuten Japan Open Championships took place in Tokyo , which, like the China Open, belonged to the ATP World Tour 500 category .

Defending champion in the singles was Andy Roddick , who was eliminated in the first round this year. This year's final contested Novak Đoković and Marin Čilić , which Đoković won in two sets with 6: 2 and 7: 6 4 . This season this was the third title and his 14th title in his career. In doubles, Stephen Huss and Ross Hutchins were the defending champions, but they did not defend their title that year. In the final, the brothers Bob and Mike Bryan won against Mark Knowles and Andy Roddick in straight sets 6: 4 and 6: 2.

The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 32 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The total prize pool was $ 2,100,500; total financial liabilities were $ 3,337,000.
