Troicki began playing tennis at the age of five under coach Nenad Trifunović. At the age of 13 he moved to Boca Raton , Florida to train at the local tennis academy.
In October 2006 he began his professional career on the ATP World Tour . In Tokyo he defeated the Spaniard Fernando Vicente 6: 7 (4: 7), 6: 4 and 6: 2 in the first round . Then he lost against the number 1, Roger Federer , very narrowly 6: 7 (2: 7) and 6: 7 (3: 7). In 2008 he reached the third round of the US Open , in which he lost to Rafael Nadal 4: 6, 3: 6 and 0: 6.
In 2010 Troicki started at the ATP tournament in Doha and made it to the semi-finals, where he was again defeated by Nadal (1: 6, 3: 6). At the Australian Open in 2010 he reached the second round - the best result so far at this tournament. He was defeated by the German Florian Mayer 6: 4, 4: 6, 6: 7 (2: 7) and 1: 6. He won his first ATP title on October 24, 2010 in Moscow . In early December, he defeated French Michaël Llodra in the Davis Cup and secured the title for the first time for the Serbian team , for which he has played since 2008.
On July 25, 2013, it was announced that the world association ITF Troicki with an 18-month doping ban until January 2015. Although he gave a requested urine sample as part of the Monte Carlo Masters , he refused a blood sample because he was very unwell. Troicki appealed against the decision because the attending physician had agreed not to take blood during the doping test. In August, he filed a lawsuit against the doping ban with the International Court of Sports , which reduced the sentence to 12 months. In July 2014 he made his comeback in Gstaad thanks to a wildcard . At the start of the 2015 season, he achieved his second ATP tournament victory in Sydney . In the following year he managed to defend this title.
