Danilo Petrović ( Serbian - Cyrillic Данило Петровић ; born January 24, 1992 in Belgrade , BR Yugoslavia ) is a Serbian tennis player .

Career

Danilo Petrović started playing tennis at the age of five, but hardly played any matches on the Junior Tour. In 2008 he played his first tournament with the professionals on the third-rate ITF Future Tour . In the first few years he mainly played on the Future Tour and did not survive the leap into a main field on either the ATP Challenger Tour or the ATP World Tour . After winning his first title on the Future Tour in singles and doubles in 2012, he improved his world rankings and was in the top 500 singles and doubles in the top 700 at the end of the year. In the following years he won other titles on the Future Tour and reached the semi-finals in doubles in Sibiu .

In 2016 he finally achieved his first triumph on the Challenger Tour. In Qingdao he reached the final alongside Tak Khunn Wang and on the way beat the top seeded pairing Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan and Yi Chu-huan . There he beat local heroes Gong Maoxin and Zhang Ze in three sentences. In the following year he succeeded again in a final with Ilija Vučić in Banja Luka , but that was lost to the Croatian brothers Marin and Tomislav Draganja . In 2018 he took part in the qualification for the Australian Open , but failed in the second round to Dennis Novak ; in qualifying for the French Open , the Wimbledon Championships and the US Open , he has already lost his opening match. On the Challenger Tour in May he was in the finals in Puerto Vallarta in both singles and doubles. While he had to admit defeat in singles Adrián Menéndez , he won his second double title on the Challenger Tour in doubles with his partner Ante Pavić . His best placement in singles is a 220th place, in doubles a 205th place.

In 2018 he made his debut for the Serbian Davis Cup team .
