Benjamin Lock (born March 4, 1993 in Harare ) is a Zimbabwean tennis player .

Career

Benjamin Lock and his brother Courtney John Lock (* 1996) were born in the capital of Zimbabwe and belong to the white minority there. In addition to English, they also speak Shona , one of Zimbabwe's official languages. Her father Martin Lock was also active as a tennis player for Zimbabwe. Benjamin moved to South Africa at the age of 13, and on to the USA at 18, where he studied finance at Florida State University , which he graduated in 2016. There he also played college tennis , where he was able to bring the third most victories in school history for his university. It came to 9th place in the ITA ranking.

Since 2016 he has mainly played on the ATP Challenger Tour and the ITF Future Tour . So far he has celebrated seven single and 25 double victories on the Future Tour. He was able to continuously improve in the world rankings . On August 20, 2018, he broke through the top 200 in the world rankings for the first time in doubles, after failing in Puerto Vallarta and Gwangju only in the final. In November he achieved his best score of 175th place. In February 2020 in Launceston , he ultimately won his first title in his third final.

The Lock brothers are currently the best tennis players in Zimbabwe and have been playing for the Zimbabwean Davis Cup team since 2010 . Benjamin competed in 25 matches for this, with a balance of 20: 7 and a double balance of 10: 5 in the individual. He achieved his biggest win there in 2019 against the world number 80.
