Bror Christian Hoppe , also Bruno Christian Hoppe (born November 28, 1859 in Ystad , † 1937 in Malmö ) was a Swedish painter.

Life and works

Bror Christian Hoppe was the son of a watchmaker . He began his art studies in 1881. While Thieme-Becker says that he completed the first part of his training from 1881 to 1886 at the Malmö Art Academy, other sources state that he studied in Stockholm during this time . From 1888 to 1889 he studied in Copenhagen and then until 1890 in Paris . During his time in Copenhagen he also worked as a copyist. Hoppe created genre and landscape images as well as portraits .

In Thieme-Becker the portraits of Eliasson (1887), Colonel Anarcrona (1892), Major Akerman (1902), Kaufmann C. Faxe (1908) and Freih. De Geer mentioned on Leufsta (1917).

Hoppe's works can be found in museums in Ystad and Malmö.
