The Sydney International 2018 was a tennis tournament that took place in Sydney from January 7th to 13th, 2018 . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2018 and was played outdoors on hard courts. In the same week the ASB Classic was played in Auckland , which, like the Sydney International, was part of the ATP World Tour 250 category . In addition, a women's competition was played at the same time in Sydney .

Last year's individual winner was Gilles Müller . In doubles, the duo Wesley Koolhof and Matwé Middelkoop won the tournament last year.

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 28 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The four top seeded players in the singles each received a bye in the first round.

qualification

The qualification took place on January 5th and 6th, 2018. Four qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament. There was also a lucky loser.
