The Apia International Sydney 2014 was a tennis tournament , which from 6 to 11 January 2014 in Sydney took place. It was part of the 2014 ATP World Tour and was played outdoors on hard courts. In the same week, the Heineken Open was played in Auckland , which, like Apia International Sydney, was part of the ATP World Tour 250 category . The women's tournament of the WTA Tour 2014 also took place in Sydney .

Last year's winner in the individual was the local hero Bernard Tomic , who made it into the final again, but clearly defeated the top seeded Argentinian Juan Martín del Potro in two sets. The brothers Bob and Mike Bryan won the tournament in doubles last year. This year Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjić won the final against Rohan Bopanna and Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi in straight sets.

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 28 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The four top seeded players each received a bye into the second round.

qualification

The qualification for the Apia International Sydney 2014 took place from 4th to 6th January 2014. Four qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament.
