The Adidas International 2000 was the 32nd edition of the hard court tennis tournament in Sydney . The tournament was part of the male ATP series as the International Series tournament . It took place together with the Heineken Open in Auckland in the second match week of the 2000 season from January 10th to 16th, 2000. Both tournaments were the last preparatory tournaments for the Australian Open , which started on the 17th. The prize pool was $ 325,000 for both the singles and doubles. In singles, 32 players competed against each other, in doubles there were 16 pairings.

The defending champion of the individual competition was the American Todd Martin , who was eliminated in the second round with three of them this year. Instead, unseeded Australian Lleyton Hewitt won the second title of the season and the fourth title of his career. In the purely Australian final, he defeated Jason Stoltenberg in two sets.

In doubles, local heroes Mark Woodforde and Todd Woodbridge , who were seeded first , succeeded Daniel Nestor and Mark Knowles . It was their third win in Sydney and the second win of the season for the two Australians. It was Woodforde's 61st and Woodbridge's 41st double success of their careers - most of them achieved together.
