The Chevrolet Cup 2000 was the 7th edition of the tennis clay court tournament in Santiago de Chile . As a tournament of the International Series , the tournament was again part of the male ATP series after it was not held as part of the ATP Tour in 1999 . It took place together with the Citrix Tennis Championships in Delray Beach and the Copenhagen Open from February 28 to March 6, 2000. After the Abierto Mexicano de Tenis Pegaso, it was only the second tournament of the season that was played on clay. It was the last time the tournament was held in Santiago de Chile, as a move to Viña del Mar took place in the 2001 season . The prize money was $ 350,000 for both the singles and doubles. In singles, 32 players competed against each other, in doubles there were 16 pairings.

The defending champion of the individual competition was the Spaniard Francisco Clavet , who did not compete this year. It won the first placed Brazilian Gustavo Kuerten , who celebrated the second title of the season and sixth individual title of his career. He didn't lose a single set in the entire course of the tournament.

Kuerten also won the doubles tournament alongside his partner Antônio Prieto . This was his second double title at this tournament after 1996 and the seventh of his career. For Prieto it was the first and only tournament success on the ATP Tour. The two Argentine defending champions Mariano Hood and Sebastián Prieto retired from four seeded in the first round.
