St. Petersburg Open 2000

The St. Petersburg Open 2000 was the 6th edition of the local tennis indoor tournament . The tournament was part of the ATP series as the International Series tournament . It took place together with the Grand Prix de Tennis de Lyon from November 6th to 12th, 2000 in the sports and concert complex Peterburgski on hard court. The prize pool for both singles and doubles was $ 775,000. In singles, 32 players competed against each other, in doubles there were 16 pairings.

The individual tournament was won by the top seeded Russian Marat Safin , who replaced the Swiss Marc Rosset as the title holder. Rosset failed in fourth place already in the first lap. For Safin it was the sixth individual title of the season and the 10th of his career.

Defending champions in doubles were the Americans Jeff Tarango and Daniel Vacek from the Czech Republic, who neither took part in the tournament this year. Instead, the fourth seeded pairing consisting of the Canadian Daniel Nestor and the Kevin Ullyett from Zimbabwe won. This was the third title of the season for both Nestor and Ullyett, but they achieved the previous titles with other partners. It was also Nestor's 15th double title in his career, and Ullyett's tenth.
